Mountains Meet Medical™
Osteopathic Physicians Direct Care
Mountains May Never Meet, But People Can.
Our Vision.
Mountains Meet Medical grew out of a desire to practice medicine the way it was meant to be
— with time, thoughtful attention, and room to listen.
We are a Direct Care Physician Practice. DPC.
Simply put, Direct Primary Care means that you pay a monthly membership fee for medical care from your doctor.
In the setting of an independent medical practice, a true DPC model allows for simplified direct interaction with your physician and quality medical care centered on your health and real life.
Since DPC practices are out-of-network from health insurance programs and therefore do not participate with nor bill insurance, you may still be able to use a health insurance plan for what is covered for external services but not for care directly delivered by the practice.
We are a small Physician-owned and Physician-run practice.
Dr. Marshall is our family medicine physician also experienced in occupational health.
Dr. Khant is our pediatric physician consultant who is board-certified in pediatric emergency medicine.
What We Provide.
In addition to primary care membership, we offer select special and occupational healthcare services, including pessary care for pelvic organ prolapse, osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), DOT/CDL physicals, home-sleep studies, and evaluations and clearances for work, travel, and recreation. This is great for reducing the hassle of bouncing back and forth between outside specialty services and your primary care doctor to get to-dos in your life accomplished.
We do accept referrals to Dr. Marshall for osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) for L&I-covered workplace injuries and occupational disease. We do not accept self-insured covered cases at this time.
How Health Insurance can Fit with Direct Primary Care.
It is recommended if at all possible that patients elect into some type of health insurance or health share plan that makes sense for their personal life situation; this may be intended to aid in catastrophic or emergency events or other external medical services best covered under insurance rather than exclusively via self-pay. Potential examples include but are not limited to: specialist care, surgery, screenings, medications, labs, and care related to severe chronic conditions.
If you are signed onto a health insurance plan you want to use, it is strongly advised that you verify that there are no significant restrictions against coverage of out-of-network healthcare providers ordering, prescribing, and referring you for external services and medications. Restrictions like these often occur under what are called HMO plans but can occur under other types of programs as well.
Is this Practice Right for You?
We may be a good fit if you're looking for:
-
Direct access to your physician without layers of intermediaries.
-
Protected care that is steady, accessible, and knowledge-grounded.
-
Unrushed visits, with thoughtful follow-up, coordination, and proactive attention.
-
Timely care (in-person or virtual), often within a couple of days or a few weeks depending on the situation.
-
Guidance when it matters most. For families, direct access to a pediatric emergency physician to help decide when home care is appropriate, when to come in, or when emergency care is truly needed.
-
Capacity for your physician's dedication to the ever-advancing world of medical knowledge and skills.
-
Clarity around costs. No copays, no visit fees just to be seen, no referral fees, and no surprise bills. Added costs for testing, procedures, or special services discussed ahead of time.
-
Member cost benefits. Covered or deeply discounted rates on many medications and on specialty services (see our Special Health & Occupational Health Services page). Amazing discounted cash pay rates through the practice rather than using insurance if desired for many external services such as labs and imaging.
-
A primary care doctor and, importantly, if you have health insurance you want to use, you have verified the plan does not restrict against coverage of your out-of-network doctor ordering, prescribing, and referring for external services and medications.
Our model is different from the familiar traditional healthcare settings. Some people find that this qualification of medical practice is exactly what they’ve been looking for; others may prefer the current conventional system.
Please note that in order to optimize quality care in a small practice, Mountains Meet Medical requires mutual electronic communication with patients, including via secure app text messaging, emails, and electronic forms outside of in-person appointments. Please consider whether you are comfortable with this regularly used electronic flow of care.
We encourage you to take time to learn about the model, ask questions, and reflect on what you want from your healthcare. A brief meet-and-greet visit is how we further explore whether this approach aligns with your needs.
