Mountains May Never Meet, But People Can.
Our Vision.
Mountains Meet Medical grew out of a desire to practice medicine the way it was meant to be
— with time, thoughtful attention, and room to listen.
Our Approach.
We are a small, direct primary care practice built around relationships,
the kind that allow healthcare to be personal, thorough, and grounded in knowledge and trust.
Our medical knowledge and experienced care decisions are adapted to your health and real life, not billing rules.
We are a Direct Care Physician Practice. DPC.
Direct Primary Care simply means you pay a monthly fee for your care,
rather than your doctor billing your insurance.
In practice, this allows for longer visits, simplified direct access to your physician, and care centered on your health — not what an insurance plan will cover. In other words, it lets us focus our energy fully on the person in front of us, rather than the hinderance of excessive paperwork, billing codes, and the pressures of a large, overbooked patient panel.
What We Provide.
In addition to primary care membership, we offer select Special and occupational healthcare services, including pessary care for pelvic organ prolapse, osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), DOT/CDL physicals, home-sleep studies, and evaluations and clearances for work, travel, and recreation. This is great for reducing the hassle of bouncing back and forth between outside specialty services and your primary care doctor to get to-dos in your life accomplished.
We are a Physician-run Micropractice.
We are board-certified physicians, tied together since medical school,
and committed to fostering a lifelong learning in the art of medicine.
Dr. Marshall is our family medicine physician also experienced in occupational health.
Dr. Khant is our pediatric physician consultant who is also board-certified in pediatric emergency medicine.
Our Services are Out-of-Network and by Self-Pay Only.
We are out-of-network from health insurance plans and so we do not directly participate with nor bill insurance. As a small direct primary care private practice (DPC), we offer a self-pay membership model for care. You can use insurance for what is covered for external services but not for care directly from the clinic.
We do accept referrals to Dr. Marshall for osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) for L&I-covered workplace injuries and occupational disease. We do not accept self-insured covered cases at this time.
It is recommended if at all possible that patients elect into some type of health insurance plan that makes sense for each personal life situation; this would especially be to aid in catastrophic or emergency events and possibly other external medical services desired/needed under insurance coverage rather than self-pay. Potential examples include but are not limited to: specialist care, surgery, screenings, medications, labs, and care related to severe chronic conditions.
If you are under a health insurance plan you want to use, it is strongly advised that you verify that there are no restrictions significant to you against coverage of out-of-network healthcare providers ordering, prescribing, and referring you for external services and medications, as we have no power over insurance coverage decisions.
Is this Small Practice Right for You?
We may be a good fit if you're looking for:
-
Direct access to your physician without layers of intermediaries.
-
Protected care that is steady, accessible, and knowledge-grounded.
-
Unrushed visits, with thoughtful follow-up, coordination, and proactive attention.
-
Timely care (in-person or virtual), often within a couple of days or a few weeks depending on the situation.
-
Guidance when it matters most. For families, direct access to a pediatric emergency physician to help decide when home care is appropriate, when to come in, or when emergency care is truly needed.
-
Capacity for your physician's dedication to the ever-advancing world of medical knowledge and skills.
-
Clarity around costs. No copays, no visit fees just to be seen, no referral fees, and no surprise bills. Any added costs for testing, procedures, or special services discussed ahead of time.
-
Member cost benefits. Covered or deeply discounted rates on many medications and on specialty services (see our Special Health & Occupational Health Services page). Amazing discounted cash pay rates through the practice rather than using insurance if desired for many external services such as labs and imaging.
-
A primary care doctor and, Important!, if you have health insurance you want to use, you have verified the plan does not restrict against coverage of your out-of-network doctor ordering, prescribing, and referring for external services and medications.
Our model is different from the familiar traditional healthcare settings. Some people find that this qualification of medical practice is exactly what they’ve been looking for; others may prefer a more conventional system.
We encourage you to take time to learn about the model, ask questions, and reflect on what you want from your healthcare. A brief meet-and-greet visit is how we further explore whether this approach aligns with your needs.
